    OMG! OMG! OMG!

Bouchon is mentioned in Michel’s favorite, favorite magazine!

  • In the October 5, 2009 issue of AutoWeek, in the CarLife section, beginning on page 36, the article is called, “Full-Course Red, Orange and Yellow: Asheville’s True Colors are on Display in the Fall” and was written by Don Klein. There is a lovely aerial photo of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The sidebar titled, “Before You Go,” touts the Explore Asheville website-good call. Another good call was a shout out to the Hickory Nut Gap Farm near Fairview. Go to our “Links We Like” page at your left for links to both sites.

But the really important part of the article is on page 38—to wit:

“For a small city (population 70,000), Asheville has a lot of fine restaurants. We like the Savoy (www.savoyasheville.com) and Bouchon (www.ashevillebouchon.com).”

(Here there’s a paragraph about Savoy, and then Mr. Klein goes on. . .)

“Bouchon offers simple French bistro fare, but its location and spirited atmosphere place it high on our list, especially if you score a seat at the curbside bar. We hit it on mussels night—all the mussels you can eat served in five different styles.”

Wow! Michel would rather have that than a cover article in Saveur. Thanks AutoWeek!

  • USA Today

Check out what USA Today has to say about Asheville in their article, “Top Five Bargain Destinations for Summer 2009” in the May 14, 2009 edition:

“Asheville earns top-five status by being an already affordable destination with new low-cost airline service. AirTran will begin flying between Orlando and Asheville starting June 11, with introductory fares of $69 one-way. You might also check flights into Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (about an hour and thirty minutes away) and Charlotte Douglas International Airport (about two hours away) to compare fares if the lowest price is a priority.

In the Specials and Deals section of ExploreAsheville.com, you’ll find savings such as 50-percent off a second night at the Four Points by Sheraton, $25 per night gas rebate card from the Crowne Plaza, and discounts at museums around town. You can also take advantage of the site’s Asheville budget travel planner, with free activity ideas and more savings opportunities. Plus, Asheville is an ideal jumping-off point for a visit to the Blue Ridge Parkway, known as “America’s Favorite Drive” and a can’t-miss (and free) activity. For more information, the Asheville Travel Blog offers a current look at events and activities in town."
