Down on the Farm
-
Our Bouchon staff and friends spend a summer Sunday with Margaret and Tom at Fork Mountain Farm in Marshall.
-
The day was perfect—gorgeous weather, not too hot. The drive from Asheville was a short hop down the freeway, then into deepest Madison County. The road ran along a creek and the vegetation was lush from our rainy summer.
At Fork Mountain Farm, Tom and Margaret grow many of the vegetables we put into the delicious dishes at Bouchon. They grow unusual pumpkins, cardoons, squashes, haricots verts and other wonderful stuff. They also have cattle, but only for their personal use at this point.
Our marvelous hosts treated us to organic burgers with homemade potato salad, pasta salad with homegrown veggies and herbs and baked beans. We ate and ate and ate!
Our thanks to them for sharing a sublime summer day.
